Der Schutz olympischer Symbole

Christoph Rieken examines how the protection of the Olympic rings and Olympic expressions has changed since the Olympic Insignia Protection Act took effect in Germany. In order to do so, he compares the protection of these insignia under general law with the scope of protection the new Olympic Insignia Protection Act provides. He also focuses on the constitutional problems which arise as a result of the allocation of intangible property rights to individual entities and examines whether or not the Olympic Insignia Protection Act is in accordance with the constitution. The author deals in particular with the legal nature of the German Olympic Insignia Protection Act and questions how this fits in with already existing national and European intangible property rights.
