Marius Thye deals with the stability council which was established in Germany in 2009 in order to monitor the finances on a federal and state level. He studies organizations, functions and the individual tasks of the new council as well as the relevant legislative basis. The author is skeptical about whether or not the stability council will contribute to safeguarding stable public finances.
