The Gospel of John is one of the New Testament scriptures which is especially steeped in the traditions of Jewish thought and Jewish piety. This can be seen in the fact that its chronological and geographical setting is marked by Jesus' repeated presence at the celebration of Jewish feasts in the Temple in Jerusalem and that the majority of the Johannine Jesus' acts and teachings take place in the context and against the backdrop of various Jewish feasts.
