Die Freiheit der Idee und der Schutz von Schriftwerken

One of the main principles of German copyright law is that the idea itself is not protected. Though this is sometimes called a fundamental principle of copyright law, there is no positive definition of the idea as such. Taking into consideration the developments in European law, this thesis aims to find criteria necessary to determine the balance of interest.
