Die Gemeinde

The articles contributed to this Festschrift by the editors and the authors are in honor of Heiko Faber's character and his scholarly work. Heiko Faber's life has been committed to a search for the connection between theory and practice, and thus it is logical that those who have contributed to this volume have been chosen from both fields. The goal of connecting jurisprudence and the social sciences is also characteristic of Heiko Faber's scholarly work. Thus it was a matter of course to ask authors from the social sciences as well to contribute. The subject, »The Community,« reflects Faber's extensive ideas on the theory of local government, on planning law and on the power or powerlessness of the communities. These provocative subjects have again and again made waves and the response to them is to be found here in the diversity of the articles.
