An EU regulation on international tort law and a European Civil Code are currently in preparation. Nadja Hoffmann deals with the coordination of contract and tort law in six European legal systems. The author favors party autonomy in choice of laws for torts; in addition, the applicable tort law should be established throughout Europe by means of an 'accessorial connection' to the private international law on contracts.
