While pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) has been practised and regulated in England for many years, it was not until 2011 that a law was passed explicitly allowing the use of PGD in exceptional cases in Germany. Sabrina Dücker compares the German and English approach and develops proposals for the future regulation of PGD in Germany.
