Die Romidee bei Claudian und Prudentius

In this study, Sophie Kultzen offers a comparative analysis of the poets Claudian and Prudentius. Despite their ideological differences, the two authors are united by their preoccupation with the idea of Rome and the importance they attached to the Roma aeterna . In their own way, both Claudian and Prudentius draw on extant poetic material. The way literary figures such as the personified Roma are shaped and reshaped in both poets' works reveals mutual adaptation, but also a conscious differentiation from each other's ideological position.
