The way in which the Christian faith was shaped by Easter does not signify comfort in the hereafter; it has to prove its truth in the current significance of the trinitarian act of resurrection for the finite life in this world. Based on the borderline experience of death and against the backdrop of a criteriology for the recognition of a lived life, Otmar Meuffels deals with the question of the truth of human beings from the perspectives of biblical revelation, official church doctrine and systematic theology as well as philosophy and literature. In this way, he makes it possible to recognize how divine judgment and redemption are a liberating force in the present time.
