Martin Will reconstructs the intricate history of the first banning of a political party in postwar Germany - the Sozialistische Rechtspartei in 1952. He pays particular attention to the controversial role of the Federal Ministry of Justice and in particular to the significance of the ban for the early constitutional history of the German Federal Republic.
