Erich Klapproth (1912-1943) was one of the most gifted up-and-coming theologians of the Confessing Church. His pastoral duties were marked out by an impressive degree of commitment and were carried out alongside his writing of high quality Christian prose for adolescents and spiritual poetry. His courageous opposition to Nazi politics saw him imprisoned several times. Albrecht Beutel holds Klapproth's short life up as an example of how the Confessing Church's battle was fought on the ground.
