Summary
The transmission of data from criminal proceedings for purposes unrelated to the proceedings is common practice for investigating authorities. However, the applicable law is confusing and embedded in a complicated regulatory structure. In his study, Jonas Els systematizes the legal field of information of third parties outside the proceedings and its relationship to investigative secrecy, based on an examination of the French model.
