Summary
In his book 'Evangelical Interpretation of the Gospels. A study of Luther's Hermeneutics', written in 1938 and first published in 1942, Gerhard Ebeling combines strictly historical work on Luther's texts and their connection to exegetical history with an effort towards a systematic comprehension of Luther's theological way of thinking. In an afterword the author places his erstwhile dissertation in the context of his life's work.
