Based on ecclesiastical law, the church provides binding rules for its actions, thus enabling cooperation and settling conflicts. In this book, the principles and main features of Protestant ecclesiastical law are described, making it possible to give a substantiated examination of the legitimacy of the church order. People may be included in the church order as church members, church officials or as pastors. For each of these there are specific requirements and possible courses of action. Actions are performed in differentiated structures of the church and the organizations attached to it. This gives the church a tangible form and at the same time establishes a well-regulated connection between the individual units. Its objective should always be common actions which are ecclesiastically appropriate.
