Michael Walzer's re-organisation of modern, liberal theory of justice is inseparable from the tradition of Jewish political thought and social critique. The contributions to this volume take up the controversial category of political theology to reflect upon the relationship between religion and politics in relation to Walzer's work.
Michael Walzer is one of today's most important political theorists. Nevertheless, the worldwide recognition of his work suffers from a »blind spot« when it comes to situating Walzer's communitarian philosophy of justice in the context of Jewish political theory. The collection presented here aims to fill this gap for the first time in a German-language publication by providing a systematic interpretation of the complex inter-dependencies between religion and politics in Walzer's work under the heading of political theology.
