Summary
The Bavarian Criminal Code of 1813 marked the beginning of modern German penal legislation. Its creator, Paul Johann Anselm v. Feuerbach (1775-1833), became famous as the founder of modern criminal law theory in Germany. In spite of the ostensibly quick failure of the Bavarian Criminal Code, many of its essential features served as a model for subsequent codifications and continue to be the criteria for the modernity of criminal law codifications today. The authors of this volume analyze the historical and philosophical background as well as the dogmatic content of the Bavarian Criminal Code of 1813 from an interdisciplinary perspective.
