Freiheit und Menschenwürde

Freedom and human dignity are important concepts in the modern age. The achievements of modern history are embodied in them, but also a reminder of the problems involved in attaining them and the knowledge of their limitations. Protestantism was always aware of the religious dimension of living in freedom. It did however resist social and political freedom for a long time, although there were significant similarities between Martin Luther's The Freedom of a Christian and modern theories of freedom. The authors of this volume analyze, from an historical and systematic standpoint, the contributions which Protestantism has made to the interpretation of the concepts of freedom and human dignity.
