Friedrich Gogartens Briefwechsel mit Karl Barth, Eduard Thurneysen und Emil Brunner

Dialectical theology is reflected throughout the correspondence between Karl Barth, Eduard Thurneysen and Friedrich Gogarten from 1919 to 1933. In 1922, these men established the journal entitled Zwischen den Zeiten, in order to give the »theology of the Word of God« its own forum. The correspondence in this volume shows the process of internal differentiation among the members of this group, which ultimately led to a split. The dispute over the significance of anthropology for theology, which started in 1928, created a constant division between Barth and Gogarten. The increasing divergence in their paths is outlined in the introduction »Two Paths between the Times« up to the »Farewell« to Zwischen den Zeiten. The minutes of the last meeting on the end or the continuation of the journal, published here for the first time, show the deep conflict among those who had founded it and explains their final separation.
