In view of the critique of religion in the 19th century and the critique of reason in the 20th century, the mere contraposition of reason and religion seems philosophically naive and historically unenlightened. Therefore the project of the theistic proofs which attempt to make the concept of God in its central status for religion accessible to philosophical argument appears in a new light. The authors of this volume examine, each in their own way, the traditional and the contemporary proofs for the existence of God with the objective of gaining a new understanding of reason and religion in their relationship.
