This volume contains eleven essays by the Tübingen Old Testament scholar Erhard Blum from between 1975 and 2014. It supplements his previous collection »Text Layout and Composition« (FAT 69) with studies dedicated to overall aspects of Old Testament exegesis. These take into consideration, among others, the nature of Old Testament historical traditions and methodological categories such as synchrony or form criticism. Also included are examinations of a more philological character, covering for instance Elohim as a designation for God or the ancient Hebrew verb system. A third focus of attention lies on hermeneutic perspectives like the implications of Christian exegesis of the Old Testament for and from the encounter with Judaism.Survey of contents
