Grundlagen und Geschichte des evangelischen Kirchenrechts und des Staatskirchenrechts

This volume contains essays on ecclesiastical law by Peter Landau written between 1981 and 2006. In the first part of the book, the author deals with the foundations of ecclesiastical law. His analysis of the term »ecclesiastical law« is followed by essays on the history of Protestant church law and its development from the Reformation up to the present. In doing so, the author studies the main advocates of Protestant church law in five centuries. He also outlines the history of tolerance and religious freedom. He concludes his work with an analysis of the basic problems of ecclesiastical law and refers to the philosophy of law, the theology of law and approaches to ecumenical Christianity in ecclesiastical law.
