Grundprobleme der Christologie

Under the epistemological conditions in the modern era, the subject of dogmatic Christology as well as its traditional doctrine are in a profound crisis. Historical criticism has deprived the founder of Christianity of his mystique, and the criticism of the dogma has increasingly revealed the aporias and the untenability of the classic Christology of the person and his works. Christian Danz approaches this from the questions posed in recent research on Jesus concerning the relationship between faith and history. Based on the history of the problem of Christology from its New Testament beginnings up to the current discussion, he explores the possibilities of a contemporary Christology which makes allowances for the epistemological as well as the historical queries to dogmatic Christology.
