Islamischer Religionsunterricht?

This collection of articles presents the results compiled by a task force of legal experts and theologians at the FEST (Protestant Institute for Interdisciplinary Research) in Heidelberg on the question of religious instruction in Islam. The problems that arise are a result of traditionally underdeveloped organizational structures in Islam as well as its political and religious diversity. In the first part of the work, two controversial theories are presented. Whereas the first theory takes a sceptical-critical view, the second advocates careful steps toward reform along the lines of religious instruction in Islam. In the second part, reports from the individual federal states explain their legal policies pertaining to primary and secondary schools education. The federal states have all developed their own individual models which range from the study of Islam (which contains no elements of a specific profession of this faith) to religious instruction in Islam.
