The 2018 volume of the yearbook focuses on issues of legal pluralism, uniform law, and the diversity of national legal cultures. Those issues are discussed along with the current challenges facing democracy in times of migration. This time the yearbook's part on comparative constitutional law is dedicated to the diversity of state law in federal systems. The yearbook also includes a series of essays paying tribute to the state law theorist and legal politician Horst Ehmke who died in 2017.
