Juristenausbildung in Europa zwischen Tradition und Reform

Higher education in most academic fields is changing due to the Bologna process. However, its implementation is particularly difficult when it comes to law. The way lawyers are educated is a formative element of each country's legal system and legal culture. Some countries are reluctant to adapt their system of legal education to the Bologna requirements and at least one (Italy) has turned away from the Bologna model after an attempt at its introduction.
This conference proceedings volume aims to lay the foundations for a serious discussion of the Bologna model and its possible impact on teaching and learning the law. The history of legal education is traced from Roman antiquity to modern times. Comparative reports explain the current systems of legal education in various countries. The final part features papers on the reform of German legal education and a transcript of the panel discussion that concluded the conference.
