Summary
Karl Holl (1866-1926) was a key figure in the history of theology and the church in the 20th century. Along with Karl Barth's commentary on Romans, Holl's epochal work, Luther (1921), was the most powerful work of Protestant theology in the Weimar Republic. In these essays, written by international authors, Karl Holl's major works are interpreted and embedded in the history of ideas for the first time.
