Summary
Church government is not only carried out actively, it is also 'experienced' by those working for the church full-time and as volunteers. It is evident that church government is concerned not only with the existence but also the application of legal regulations. There is a connection between areas of authority in pastoral duties or working with people and church government; these elements are mutually dependent. Using the government of the established Protestant church in Baden as an example and looking at this subject from a historical, systematic-theological and legal perspective, Stössel deals with the questions of what 'Protestant church government' is and how its theory and practice are related.
