Alexander Peukert shows that the notion of such an abstract intellectual property object is a linguistic construct, which only emerged in the eighteenth century and whose sole purpose is to simulate an object that can be owned. More realistic and thus easier to regulate satisfactorily is an intellectual property theory based on actions and artefacts that understands copyright law and industrial property rights as exclusive rights for the production and other use of artefacts.
