This volume completes the Critical Spalding Edition, of which a total of 13 volumes have been published continuously since 2001. It is a collection of 19 sermons which Johann Joachim Spalding once published separately or as part of an anthology by other editors but which had not been in any collection of sermons which he himself compiled and edited. These sermons range from the farewell semon held in 1757 with which Spalding left his first rectorate in Lassan (Western Pomerania), his sublimely aloof commemorative sermon for Frederick II of Prussia to a collections of sermons, published in 1799, which also included the first of Friedrich Schleiermacher's printed sermons. All in all this volume presents a selection of high-quality sermons which are an excellent representation of the homiletic zenith of neology.
