The historical-critical analysis of biblical texts forms the foundation for the study of the Old and New Testaments. In the course of this research, a body of methods has emerged that enables a scientifically sound interpretation of biblical texts within their historical context. This volume explains all methods of textual analysis and illustrates them with examples. The “Guide to Exegesis” is specifically intended for students in university teacher-training and bachelor’s degree programs, as well as for participants in adult education courses who wish to interpret biblical texts from a historical-critical perspective but are unable—or only partially able—to read and understand the texts in their original languages (Hebrew and Greek).
