These studies of the reception history of Luther's theology deal with the reception of Luther in post-Reformation orthodoxy, with the reception history in England and Sweden, but also with the »downside« of Luther's theology in Kant's philosophy. The authors not only discuss the definition of the relationship between Luther and Nietzsche among the theologians of the »Luther renaissance«; they also deal with the rift in the interpretation of Luther at the turn of the 20th century and the reception of Reformational hermeneutics in religious education before and after the Second World War. The volume begins with an explanation of Luther's interpretation, written in 1522, of the Epistles of Peter, and concludes with a description of the diagnostic power of the basic theological categories and thus of Luther's relevance to the present.
