This edition is based on two transcripts of Max Weber's lecture on the »General Theory of the State and Politics (Sociology of the State)«. This was aimed at a sociology of the state and of legitimate domination which had previously not been offered at German universities.
Max Weber's lecture on the »General Theory of the State and Politics (Sociology of the State)« was aimed at a sociology of the state and of legitimate domination which had previously not been offered at German universities. Weber linked his »types of legitimate domination« from the new version of Economy and Society to theoretical explanations from Politics as a Vocation while at the same time enlivening his lecture by giving topical examples. Due to Weber's death, the lecture was never completed. This edition is based on two transcripts, some parts of which were written in a shorthand which is no longer commonly used today. The synoptic reprint of both transcripts selected by the editor shows the parallels in the structure and the choice of words and provides authentic evidence of Weber's spoken words.
