Menschsein im Werden

For more than twenty years, Eilert Herms has been studying and analyzing Schleiermacher's works. The studies in this work are the expression of a fascination which these texts continue to generate. Based on the European Enlightenment, Schleiermacher attempted to attain a categorial understanding of the universal conditions of the natural and social becoming. He also outlined the essentials of the historical situation at that time, in whose context his contemporaries had to accept individual responsibility for the further course of events.
