Metapher und Kreuz

Although Luther's theology of the cross has always been an important subject of research, there are scarcely any suitable historical-systematic monographs which deal particularly with Luther's interpretation of the crucified Risen One. Jens Wolff provides a case study of the cross and the resurrection. Making use of various examples, he analyzes Luther's interpretation of Psalm 22 in Luther's second lecture on the Psalms. This shows a close connection to the 'Antilatomus' and the phrase »Christus…factus est pecattum metaphorice« (2 Cor. 5:21). The author demonstrates how Luther uses metaphors of Christ to show that Christ is constantly present, but he does not play down the crucifixion.
