Summary
Religious talk is metaphorical talk. Thus a theology rooted in the 'Logic of Terms' overlooks what is only revealed when taking a close look from a phenomenological point of view. Hans Blumenberg's metaphorology is particularly ingenious, which can open up new horizons for the understanding of religious and theological talk. Philipp Stoellger reconstructs the development of Hans Blumenberg's 'Work on Metaphor' into a cultural phenomenology of lifeworlds and examines their relationship to the theory of metaphors developed by Vico, Derrida and Jüngel. The result is a phenomenological method for reflecting on and using metaphors in theoretical and pre-theoretical contexts. In regard to theology the programme is 'remetaphorizing' metaphysics.
