Ingo Pies presents a collection of 20 texts, each of which centers around the works of a particular classical modern social theorist and offers an introduction to the seminal author's oeuvre. Also provided are systematic and historical assessments of their writings with special attention paid to the importance each author attributes to institutions and their societal coordination of individual behavior. Furthermore, each of these modern classical thinkers is analyzed with regard to the political implications of their particular oeuvre.
