Nachhaltige Finanzstrukturen im Bundesstaat

The legal principle of sustainable development has ecological, economic and social dimensions. Within the parameters of sustainable development, it is financial sustainability in times of escalating national debt, global financial crises and negative demographic trends which is of particular significance. The authors of the articles in this volume take the perspective of jurisprudence and economics in linking the need for sustainable state financial structures to the federal structure of the state. Authors from Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland examine the sustainability of federal financial structures from the standpoint of the constitutional restriction of government spending, the allocation of legislative power in regard to taxes and the federal fiscal equalization scheme.
