Naturrecht und Universalrechtsgeschichte

This book is a reconstruction of notes taken by six different people during a lectures on »Natural Law and the History of Universal Law«, given regularly by Eduard Gans, a jurist and pupil of Hegel's, from the winter semester of 1827/28 up to 1838/39 on Hegel'philosophy of law. To begin with, these lectures were held on Hegel's behalf, and they were continued later as part of a proven tradition. Gans has not only made Hegel's original texts easier to understand for legal experts, he has also enlarged upon them in a number of subjects which were of considerable importance in the history of Hegel's reception. This lecture, which is significant from the perspective of the history of law and history of philosophy, is made available here for the first time in this easily readable edition, filling a gap in our knowledge of the Vormärz era in Germany.
