Neue Ordnungsökonomik

The recent or »third« methodological debate has become less heated, the debate on the significance and use of constitutional economics seems to have been settled and the economists guild seems to have returned to going about its daily business. However that by no means implies that things have returned to normal. In fact the main focus of the debate has shifted. To begin with it had to do with »big« and fundamental questions, but now it is concerned with concrete and feasible suggestions which can contribute to overcoming those methodological deficits which make it difficult for economics to perceive economic reality. If there can be no simple going back to the old constitutional economics, what then could a new constitutional economics be like, one which is connected explicitly to international discourses but at the same time considers itself to be in the tradition of Eucken, Böhm and Röpke? This is the question the authors of this book have asked themselves.
