Rade Kisić discusses the eschatological dimension of Gregory's theology, which is fundamental to all aspects of his thinking. Its point of convergence is the patria caelestis, the »heavenly home.«
The doctrine of Gregory the Great, the first monk on the papal throne, had a significant influence on medieval theology and particularly on Western mystical tradition. Against the backdrop of the collapse of the ancient civilization at the end of the 6th century, Gregory developed a theology which was rooted in the Latin tradition, had a strong eschatological orientation, and upon which the antithesis temporalisaeternus had a determining influence. Rade Kisić discusses the eschatological dimension of Gregory's theology, which is fundamental to all aspects of his thinking. Its point of convergence is the patria caelestis, the »heavenly home.« His entire doctrine was shaped by his focus on the afterlife.
