Pliny the Younger, the author of a comprehensive epistolary collection and a panegyric speech for the emperor Trajan, enjoyed an extraordinary fortune in antiquity and subsequent periods. In recent years, Pliny has undergone a significant reappraisal - especially in literary studies.
