Fynn Ole Engler investigates the two main positions in the modern philosophy of science from an historical and a systematic point of view, thereby separating the realistic and the naturalistic program from each other.
Fynn Ole Engler investigates the two main positions in the modern philosophy of science from an historical and a systematic point of view, thereby separating the realistic and the naturalistic program from each other. Apart from searching for an historically adequate methodology, these two programs try to explain the empirical success of science. Most significantly, one could argue by referring to a distinct methodology, which contains not only a logic of justification but also a logic of discovery, for structural scientific realism as the best metaphysical explanation for the empirical success of science.
