  Summary
The papers held at a conference in 2012 on the subject of »Law and Arbitrariness« cover the subject using a broad spectrum of individual fields of law and historic events as examples. They deal with the ambivalence of the concept of arbitrariness as an abuse of power on the one hand and as free will as defined by Kant on the other hand. In this debate, the authors discuss humanitarian intervention in the case of a large-scale violation of human rights from the perspective of international law.
