Patrick Oei deals with recent developments in Chinese legal methodology. He analyzes fundamental debates on the significance of legal interpretation, the concept of the rule of law, how to deal with »hard cases« that offer no clear solution based on existing law as well as legal reforms such as the new »Guiding Case« system and, based on this, outlines a concept of a specifically Chinese legal methodology.
