Summary
Josef Kohler was one of the most exceptional scholars of jurisprudence in the German Empire. While his achievements in the field of intellectual property law, competition law, and the protection of personality rights are widely discussed, hardly any noteworthy studies of his work on civil law, procedural law, bankruptcy law, legal philosophy, or legal anthropology have been available until today. This book focuses on these unknown areas of his work and attempts, on this basis, to redefine Kohler's significance in the academic system of the German Empire, also using previously unknown sources.
