Religious values in law are a historical phenomenon with a millennia-old tradition that are also a complex topic of theoretical reflection. Ethics and law, money and law - these fundamental concepts would be unthinkable without religion. Furthermore, the juxtaposition or the antagonism between laws of varying origin is accompanied by differing religious influences. The contributions in this volume search historical samples and theoretical concepts for law and religion's coexistences and conflicts by taking a methodological vertical and horizontal comparative law approach, and matching functionally equivalent problems with their like or contrary solutions.
