New research has shown that Hermann Cohen was an alert reader of liberal Protestant theology in his time. To understand his work »Religion of Reason out of the Sources of Judaism,« it is important to reconstruct this hidden discourse in his writings. At the same time, his philosophy of religion challenges Christian theology to demonstrate its own reasonableness. The articles collected in this volume deal with the historical contexts as well as systematic-theological issues such as the concept of God, the belief in Jesus Christ, the concept of the Holy Spirit, sin, prayer and the method of correlation. This interpretation and discourse require encounters between Judaism, philosophy and theology.
