Religion: Kosmologie und Evolution

Since the beginning of the modern era in Europe, religion has increasingly been suspected of being committed to a cosmology which is no longer justifiable from a scientific point of view and especially of being incapable of the modern process thinking of evolution. If both these things were true, then a modern theology of creation would be impossible and religious faith would become completely isolated with respect to the view of the world and mankind in its own present time, something which is seen as a standard for science. It has now been shown that the boundaries between the sciences and the forms of life, faith and behaviour can not be drawn quite as exclusively as certain mechanistic ideologies had assumed. This new situation in the dialogue was made possible mainly by the philosophy of science and religion propagated by American pragmatism (Ch. S. Peirce), the significance of which Hermann Deuser explores and develops in these seven essays on current issues.
