This volume reflects not only controversial views on the problem of late abortions, but it also considers important criteria which are often not taken into account in the current discussions.
Does birth mark the beginning of a person´s life? Or is the unborn life dependant on its approval by the human beings already born? Who decides this and what is the criteria? These questions occur with particular relevance when it comes to the late abortion of a viable fetus. Regularly, the conflict of abortion is reduced to the tension between the pregnant woman and her child. But this does not give the full picture. In fact, the decision of the pregnant woman is often the mirror of society´s attitudes and reality. Does society take its responsibility for mother and child or does it leave them high and dry? In light of these questions, this volume reflects not only controversial views on the problem of late abortions, but it also considers important criteria which are often not taken into account in the current discussions.
