Summary
The internal market for electricity is still incomplete. Apart from technical reasons, the legal frameworks of the member states play a decisive role. Long-developed monopolistic structures cannot easily be overcome as the French example shows quite clearly. With the historical development of French energy law as a background, the author examines the current French law on electricity supply with a view to its relationship with EU liberalisation law.
